After my first drive across Switzerland after TW560’s rebuild following a the destruction of TW560 in an accident, a visit to the Gran Sasso and enjoying a weekend in the Graubünden Alps, it’s time to drive back home.
This entry isn’t too much about TW560 and more about the stunning beauty of the country I live in.
We start by crossing the Oberalppass for the third time in as many days. It’s another very nice day with a bonus of being one of these day that has extremely clear air, giving 200km+ visibility.
Then, not using the motorway, I head down the Reuss valley toward Altdorf. Here, I take the breathtaking Axenstrasse along lake Lucerne.
Having arrived in Brunnen, I could have continued either direction Schwyz or even Lucerne – both of which are normally very busy on days like these (especially Lucerne). This is why I decided to take a small road towards Zurich I hadn’t taken until then – crossing over the Ibergeregg pass towards Sihl lake valley.
From Brunnen I drive towards Schwyz before taking a right turn toward Ibergeregg.
From here the majestic Mythen mountain dominates the view left-hand – when it looks like you’re driving towards a wall of mountain and it looks like there is nowhere to put a road, that’s where the Ibergeregg pass starts and snakes its way up the hill and eventually mountain.
Then, I arrive at the Sihl lake. The Sihl valley is a beautiful place and always worth a visit, especially as it is very close to one of Switzerland’s tourist attractions: Einsiedeln with its abbey.
TW560’s pack still has a lot of charge left and I feel like driving a little further – I take my TWIKE to lake Constance and cross over into Germany in Constance and from there via Singen up onto the Black Forest plateau before heading back down to the Rhine River where I live just across the border.
It’s been, again, one of these perfect days for TWIKEing and with this, my first longer test drive was very successful and I’m convinced that it’s ready for full service again. Time to conclude the rebuild!
