last friday, jc flew to bremen to oversee the TWIKE being released from our container. he arrived just in time to see the TWIKE being unloaded with all the other cars. since walti will be arriving in about 2 days, jc was asked to plug in the twingo, in order for it to be ready for pick up.
the drive from bremen to hamburg was uneventful but very, very cold. jc endured -18°C, which in the TWIKE equals to -18°C interior temperature.
during the charge the cold seems to have gotten to the TWIKE computer at last – the display started to show cyrillic letters before refusing to show anything anymore.
overall the twike is not only in a bad state on the technical side – it is in a pretty sorry state on the exterior, too. (and i’m sure that it is looking foreward to the TLC it will get at dreifels)
jc, a seasoned TWIKE driver, charged and drove the TWIKE on the train without any display and arrived at lörrach the next morning.
he felt lucky enough that the TWIKE started up again and drove the last 30kms to sissach, where he parked the twike on dreifels’ premises and left it there, returning to hinwil – where we will meet up later on today, saturday, to travel to churwalden with TW231, finally equipped with large 20Ah batteries…
Dear Twikers, I must say your decision to take the car train to Switzerland is indeed a good one. We loaded the Twingo and the 2 Think City cars on a truck in Bremen and they were delivered to Switzerland last Friday. The transport company, however, forgot that even electric cars need keys to switch on the engine and kept the car keys in Bremen. If you ever need to know how to unload cars with locked doors from a 40t truck, give us a buzz – we now know how to do it!
