We pick up with me having gotten a first estimate from Andreas from Ksenotek for the repairs resulting from my recent accident. As one of the first steps, I had to register my accident with my insurance.

Usually, there comes the moment where they ask which type of vehicle I own, how many kilometres I’ve already driven and how old it is. (TWIKE, ~250,000, 18 years)

The agent on the other end of the line audibly exhaled as I told her that this was an accident that came about because I had swerved to avoid an animal. Probably she assumed that my insurance cover for such an old vehicle was a partially comprehensive or less and started to tell me that there wasn’t much she could do … until I told her, that my vehicle was comprehensively covered and I indeed had full coverage for such an event.

Sticking to her script, she asked me if I wanted to have the broken windscreen repaired right away by an expert who could do this on the spot out of his van. I told her to have a quick look at my website as it seemed that she though I was driving a TRIKE, not a TWIKE. π This did the trick.
I told her that I already have had my vehicle transported to the usual garage I take my vehicle to.
She told me that in a case like mine, they would have to schedule an inspection visit by an accident assessor to be able to decide what the maximum amount covered will be.
In the meanwhile, I will compile a list of all the repairs and investments I made into my TWIKE during the 11 years I’ve owned it…just to be sure.
