As I got up early morning, I suddenly felt different about what I should be doing the next few days: I wanted to drive home. No hardcore TWIKEing. Direction home, nevertheless.
Starting my trip at 7am today, I am, yet again, greeted by a very nice day, promising to be hot and sunny.
I cross the hills on some very uninteresting roads which take me to the very flat Pianura, which I really don’t like: 80kms of pure flatness. Let’s skip forward to Milan – a town I’ve been visiting regularly for the last 30 years. This year, as with all cities, the true attraction was the absence of people.
The pictures I take this year are eerily devoid of people and look photoshopped.
The food, however, was tasty as ever. I discovered a new pizza version I hadn’t known until then:
A very Italian company… finally I get to see their HQ.
I stay the night in a B&B that offers me a protected parking spot with plug free of charge. Thanks again.
My next day starts with even better weather – deep blue skies, no wind and thanks to us being already at 250m, agreeable temperatures.
My last breakfast in Italy has to be a complete one – at a fraction of the price I’d be paying just a few km down the road.
In Switzerland things stay beautiful. I just love my country. Looking out of my TWIKE and basically seeing a postcard is priceless.
From there I decide to take the Lukmanier pass and then to drive over the Oberalp pass…just for the sheer fun of it and the promise of extremely clear views thanks to the clear weather.
A full half day of stunning views later, I’m finally back to my Canton of Zurich and our own stunning views around Lake Zurich.
Another 25km direction Germany and I’m back home –
TDI2020 has come to an end – this has been a very nice and relaxing 2 weeks of TWIKEing, spending time with my family, spending time on my own and just having some care-free time to recharge my batteries.
Thanks for reading and time to plan my next summer trip 2021. It’s going to be the longest trip distance-wise and also time-wise. Stay tuned!
